Tasks

As a Practice Lead Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in driving digital acceleration, enhancing operational resilience and supporting the transformation into a cutting edge, software engineering-led organisation. 

  • Foster a culture of quality throughout the development lifecycle
  • Define and own the governance around some of the engineering standards across the organisation
  • Evangelize and influence engineering best practices within the engineering community
  • Implement and maintain robust SDLC processes aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements
  • Support the traceability and auditability of development activities by driving the adoption of right standards and tooling
  • Define metrics and monitor the efficiency of the Practice Family initiatives
  • Help address skill gaps and technical challenges in engineering pods by providing upskilling/training opportunities
  • Facilitate development of cross-functional capabilities to address common gaps/challenges
  • Help remove blockers on adoption of Engineering initiatives
  • Evangelize good solutions achieved within platforms/pods with the wider engineering community
  • Champion and implement DevOps principles and practices, including CI/CD and IaC
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive developer community through workshops, meetups, and internal forums
Requirements

Technical skills

  • Is tech-forward in thinking, actively researching new ideas/processes and is the driving force to adopt them
  • Is a generalist with the breadth and depth of experience in CI/CD best practices and has extensive experience in one of the following areas, including 5+ years hands-on:
     o Software Development (e.g., Secure coding/SDLC/API development/clean code management)
     o Testing (e.g., TDD/BDD/Automated testing/Contract testing/API testing)
     o Site Reliability Engineering (e.g., Endpoint management/Release engineering/Observability/Risk management)
  • Can apply their thinking to many problems across multiple technical domains
  • Demonstrates mastery of their technical discipline
  • Contributes to architectural discussions by asking the right questions to ensure a solution matches the business needs

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., financial services, healthcare).
